Life's Shifts

My life has been shifting for a couple of years as I've journeyed back into practice. When I left practice over 10 years ago I worked hard to find a way to stay home with Elijah yet feel a purpose that extended beyond being a stay at home mom. I started coaching at our CrossFit gym. This is also when Beautycounter came into my life. It provided so much for me and my family from a community, friends, and financial impact. I will forever be grateful for it. On April 17th Beautycounter abruptly terminated my consultant status without reason or warning. I love(d) my team, the products and what the company stands for. But, with time comes change and it’s time to move on. I’m still trying to find out what the reason for my termination was.

What now? Since October I've been using products from a company called Oliveda and have been so impressed. The company may not be well known in the US, but has been around for the last 20 years in Europe and only came to the US in the last year. What attracted me the most was the science behind the olive leaf extract that Oliveda replaces the water as the first ingredient with.

In August 2013, the founder started the water project “Oliveda for Africa” and began to build one well in Africa for every 100 hectares of mountain olive tree land that Oliveda acquired. By now, about 15,000 residents in various villages are supplied with water from the Oliveda wells.

See more below about how Oliveda got started from Thomas Lommel, Founder.

Over the years I would often try other products to see what was out there, but would always come back to Beautycounter. If you have products you love and work for you I'm not telling you to switch, but I know many have still been on the hunt for a cleaner skincare product and want you to know this is an option. I also am in love with the internal products they have. One thing this company is known for is using hydroxytyrosol and after my science brain dove into it, I was hooked!

Hydroxytyrosol is the only polyphenol which is able to cross the blood brain barrier, which allows it to have a significant action to scavenge free radicals in the nervous system. Hydroxytyrosol also shows a variety of pharmacological activities such as antioxidant properties, anticancer, anti-inflammatory, and neuroprotective activities, and beneficial effects on the cardiovascular system. This is huge and I'm constantly working with my patients to help with these things. When applied to the skin it exhibits anti-inflammatory effects, aids in cell turnover, helps protect against free radicals, and helps combat hyperpigmentation and wrinkles. If you are wanting to try these products I'll share my link and then I suggest you take the Olive Brain Quiz as the amount of products available can be quite overwhelming. Plus, when you take the Olive Brain Quiz you get a FREE product with your order of 2 items from the quiz!
